No domingo à tarde fui passear em Morgantown e conhecer a Melita!

A cidade é muito, muito fofa. Pra começo de conversa, ela parece uma cidade, e não um monte de casas em volta de uma rodovia. Segundo a Melita, tem duas ruas que são a zona do agrião, que têm comércio, bares e tudo. Pena que eu esqueci os nomes. Essa aí é uma delas:


As casas são todas fofinhas, são antigas e dá vontade de morar nelas! Pena que não tirei mais fotos, é que estava guardando a bateria pro show do Brian...

A universidade é a coisa mais linda do mundo. Ela é no meio da cidade, não tem cerca nem nada em volta. Os prédios são todos antigos também, cada prédio é de um curso. Na primeira foto é a Melita! Ela é um doce, me recebeu na casa dela, me apresentou a todos os bichos (são 2 cachorros e 3 gatos lindos lindos, dois deles são enormes), e me levou pra passear na cidade! Ela é que foi dirigindo, imagina, pra eu poder ver a cidade! Não é fofa demais?


Ela também me mostrou os vários bairros 'moráveis' da cidade, Suncrest, Sunnyside, uns outros que eu esqueci o nome, e South Park (que é o mais legal de todos, e do lado do centro, e é o que eu quero!), o estádio de basquete (gigante), o CAC (que é onde foi o show), e vários outros pontos bacanas da cidade.

Depois disso, fui feliz e saltitante pro show do Brian Wilson. Quando fui comprar ingressos, eis que um moço surge do nada e me dá um ingresso! Ele e a mulher compraram 4, as outras pessoas não foram, e daí que eles não queriam perder os ingressos... que eram na 6a fila, no meio, NA FRENTE do palco! Eu fiquei cara a cara com o Brian!!!!!!

O outro ingresso foi pra um cara simpático chamado Matt, que tirou fotos durante o show (era proibido! eu não tirei!), e virou meu 2o amigo em Morgantown. =)

O show foi fantástico - tocaram várias músicas dos Beach Boys, alguns covers e uma outra do CD novo dele, that lucky old sun. O mais difícil foi ficar quietinha na minha cadeira enquanto eles mandavam vaaaaários clássicos. Começaram com Monster Mash (quem é que lembra dessa música! haha ignorem o Mike Love no vídeo) e mandaram Custom machine, Little deuce coupe, I get around, Shut down (as que eu mais gosto são as de carro haha), Surfin USA, All summer long, Help me Rhonda, Fun fun fun, Barbara Ann, Dance dance dance, Do you wanna dance, Don't worry baby, In my room, And then I kissed her (é cover dos Crystals, nem lembrava que os BB tocavam), Salt Lake city (nem gosto), Please let me wonder (linda demais), California Girls, Sloopy John B, Wouldn't it be nice (pena que não foi o Brian que cantou), God only knows (quase chorei), e as duas que mais me impressionaram - Good Vibrations e Heroes and Villans.

Nunca gostei de Heroes and Villans, mas também não tinha nunca ouvido ao vivo, com quinhentas mil harmonias vocais dessas que só o Brian faz... fiquei arrepiada. E Good vibrations foi a primeira vez que eu vi um theremin ao vivo! =)






Pena que não tocaram Darlin' nem algumas coisas mais lado-B dos últimos cds (pet sounds e smile). Mas valeu demais. Na verdade na verdade, foi como ir a um show de uma banda cover dos Beatles, mas com o John Lennon cantando (bom, com o George, que é meu beet favorito). Eu quase não acreditei que estava ali. E tão perto! Na frente do Brian! Foooda foda foda. Mal posso esperar pelos próximos =)

On Sunday afternoon I drove to Morgantown and met Melita!

The city is very, very cute. For starters, it looks like a city, not some houses around a highway. According to Melita, there are two main streets which have stores, bars and everything. Too bad I forgot their names. This is one:


The houses are all cute, are old and I wanted to live in them! Too bad it did not take any more photos, I was saving the battery for Brian's show.

The university is the most beautiful thing in the world. It is in the middle of town, and it doesn't have fences or something like that. The buildings are all old too, each building is a course. In the first picture it's Melita! Ela é um doce, me recebeu na casa dela, me apresentou a todos os bichos (são 2 cachorros e 3 gatos lindos lindos, dois deles são enormes), e me levou pra passear na cidade! She is so sweet, received me in her house, introduced me to all her pets (2 dogs and 3 beautiful beautiful cats, two of them being huge), and drove me around the city! She was actually driving, can you imagine that, for me to be able to see the city! Isn't that sweet?


She also showed me the various districts in the city, Suncrest, Sunnyside, another that I forgot the name, and South Park (which is the coolest, and close to downtown, which is what I want! ), the basketball arena (huge!), the CAC (which is where was the show), and several other cool spots in town.

After that, I went happy and bouncy to Brian Wilson's show. When I went to buy tickets, behold, a young man comes out of nowhere and gives me a ticket! He and his wife bought 4 tickets but the other people didn't go, and they did not want to lose the tickets... wich were in the 6th row, in the middle, in FRONT of the stage! I was face to face with Brian!!

The other ticket went to a nice guy named Matt, who took pictures during the show (it was banned! I didn't!), and turned to be my 2nd friend in Morgantown. =)

The show was great - played several songs from the Beach Boys, some covers and some of his new CD, that lucky old sun. The hardest part was being quiet in my chair while they played soooo many classics. They started with Monster Mash (who remembers that song! Haha ignore Mike Love on the video) and then played Custom machine, Little deuce coupe, I get around, shut down (the ones I like best are the car songs haha), Surfin USA , All summer long, Help me Rhonda, Fun fun fun, Barbara Ann, Dance dance dance, Do you want to dance, Do not worry baby, In my room, And then I kissed her (it's a Crystal's cover, forgot that BB played that one), Salt Lake city (don't like this one), Please let me wonder (sooo pretty), California Girls, Sloopy John B, Would not it be nice (too bad it that was not Brian who sang it), God only knows (almost cried), and the two that impressed me most - Good Vibrations and Heroes and Villans.

I never loved Heroes and Villans, but had never heard it live, with five hundred thousand of those vocal harmonies that only Brian can create... I was shivering. And Good Vibrations was the first time I saw a theremin live! =)






Too bad they did not play Darlin' and some side-B stuff of the last cds (pet sounds and smile). But it was awesome anyway. In fact, was like going to a show of a Beatles cover band, but with John Lennon singing (well, with George, who is my favorite beet). I almost did not believe it was there. And so close! In front of Brian! Aaaaaaaaawesome. I can hardly wait for the next shows I'll be able to see here =)
